‘The Night Agent’ Dethroned In Netflix’s Top 10 List By A New Show

Well, this was going to be the ultimate test. Could one of Netflix’s most popular series ever be dethroned by its new weekly live program in its top 10 list? The answer is yes, yes it could.

WWE Monday Night RAW has indeed rocketed to #1, continuing its weeks-long streak of doing so ever since Netflix added the live show to its roster, kicking off a ten year deal that cost the streamer billions. But it’s easy to see how that may in fact not only pay off, but expand WWE’s reach further than it’s ever been, as it’s now about to be the most popular show in America every week for the foreseeable future.

Again, The Night Agent was a big test here. Season 1 was the seventh most-watched English language show in history, and season 2 is no doubt putting up big numbers after its much-anticipated premiere. But even The Night Agent cannot stand up to the Monday night power of WWE RAW, and this seems like it’s going to prove my theory right that we’re going to see this happen every single week for the indefinite future. RAW has been on for thirty years and is more popular than ever. There’s going to be no stopping it.

But the pattern here is always the same, that RAW will instantly plunge down the list after its live airing, and The Night Agent will be on top again tomorrow. #3 is the ever-solidly performing American Primeval, where we will likely be hearing about a prequel being greenlit in the coming weeks here, is my guess. Licensed series Younger and its seven seasons is performing incredibly well, now at #4 and making its way up the list over time. My wife has watched this whole series at least five times and yeah, it’s pretty good! It’s got Hilary Duff in it!

Squid Game season 2 is now down to #6. I do have a feeling that it is not going to catch Squid Game season 1 in the end in terms of its total viewership, even if it was on that pace initially. I just don’t think it has enough staying power, even if yes, its numbers so far have been superb, and it will no doubt end in the top 5 no matter what happens from here. It’s already the second most-watched non-English season of a show ever.

Creeping in the back is Netflix’s other big spy show, The Recruit, which will have a new season out imminently, and fans are rewatching season 1 to get ready, it seems. Will it surpass The Night Agent?
