Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

So close, but so far away. I always hope for three, but hopes don’t always matter. SPARE left me with 246 remaining possible solutions and just one yellow box, which I attempted to juggle with ABOUT. I thought I’d at least snag another vowel, but I still had four grey boxes and a yellow. CANDY was a good third guess, leaving me with three green boxes and a yellow ‘C’ and just one remaining solution: FANCY for the win!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 0 points for guessing in four and lose one for losing to the Bot who got this one in three. Oh well!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word "fancy" originates from the Middle English word fantasie, which was borrowed from the Old French fantasie. This, in turn, came from the Latin phantasia, meaning "imagination," which itself was derived from the Greek phantasía (φαντασία), meaning "appearance, image, or imagination." The Greek root phantázein (φαντάζειν) means "to make visible" or "to show." Over time, "fancy" evolved in English to signify imagination, a preference or liking, and later came to imply something ornate or elaborate.
