The Golden State Warriors know their championship window with Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and head coach Steve Kerr is beginning to close. The core has won multiple NBA championships together and wants a legitimate opportunity to compete for one more title before their careers come to an end.

Throughout the offseason, the Warriors have been heavily linked to four-time NBA champion LeBron James, who remains the biggest name on the free-agent market. The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer provided insight into where Golden State currently stands in the pursuit.

“I do think the Warriors are still as involved as any team. I want to say that too. As much as the reunion with Cleveland and Miami would be storybook, this new all star team, traveling team USA kind of circus, high entertainment value thing that would exist is GS, is something that is still very much on the table,” Fischer said.

Green has also been spending time with James, where he has reportedly made his pitch for the superstar to join Golden State.

“LeBron James and Draymond Green are meeting up as the NBA's all-time leading scorer looks to join a new team for the 2026-27 season, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Charania reported that James and Green are spending some time here together this week at an undisclosed location during a Tuesday appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show,” Bleacher Report’s Zach Bachar wrote.

In a recent report, ESPN’s Shams Charania revealed that Green is currently one of the biggest recruiters for James. Green is reportedly doing everything he can to convince James to join the Warriors and make a run at another championship.

“They’re really close friends… [Draymond Green] is doing everything he can to recruit LeBron James to the Warriors,” Charania said.

There is no telling how long the process will take before James finally makes his decision, but Green is expected to remain one of the biggest voices in Golden State’s pursuit. Green and James have developed a close relationship over the years, especially with both players being represented by the same agent, Rich Paul.

James was on a $101 million contract last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, but his next deal is expected to be significantly smaller. Green is doing everything possible to bring James to Golden State, but the only question is whether it will be enough. Until James makes his final decision, Green will continue making his case for the Warriors.
