Where is Mo Salah going? Transfer rumors involve MLS, Saudi Pro League after World Cup

1 day ago 5

Egypt and Mo Salah nearly upset Argentina.

Nearly is the key word, though, and so the Pharaohs are done at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. That means the next order of business for Salah is at hand.

He needs a new team.

His contract with Liverpool expired, making him a free agent, and he wasn't going to decide on his next destination until his time at the World Cup was over.

So now what?

Where is Mo Salah going?

It's hard to discount any European power that would be interested, but the latest rumors seem to involve Major League Soccer in the U.S. competing with the Saudi Pro League.

The Saudi Pro League almost certainly is offering more money.

If Salah likes the idea of coming to the United States, though, MLS has proven it can lure big stars, including Lionel Messi.

This is what ESPN shared in its latest transfer rumors update:

"Major League Soccer clubs have made calls to look into the availability of Mohamed Salah, who has been a free agent since the expiry of his Liverpool contract and continues to receive attention from the Saudi Pro League, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The 34-year-old has previously refused to commit to deciding his future, but now the World Cup is over the Egypt international will make a decision."

Salah won't have to rush, but it makes sense to get this taken care of.

There's a chance he even has the option of working through MLS options while on the ground in the United States, but that hasn't been specifically reported.

Wherever Salah goes, it will be a big deal. He's one of the legends of the modern game.
