One of the biggest events of the Drum Corps International (DCI) schedule will take place this weekend — get ready for the Southwestern Championship.

DCI's annual "Texas Tour" brings the summer circuit to the Lone Star State for six events over the span of five days, highlighted by the Southwestern Championship. Held at the Alamodome, Saturday's event will serve as the summer's halfway point, featuring all World-Class corps and even some Open Class competitors. 

Often called the "crown jewel" of this regional circuit, fans are in for some fierce competition on Saturday. Marching bands and drum corps from across the country are set to participate, representing California to Boston.

What is DCI?

Drum Corps International is the governing body for marching music competitions in the United States. The collective was created in 1971 by 13 original founding members with the goal of organizing and unifying youth-focused competitive drum corps events throughout North America.
