Why Justin Reid knows Cameron Jordan is Saints' Drew Brees-like key player for 2026 NFL season

The New Orleans Saints are in a state of limbo. Coach Kellen Moore has yet to prove himself as a postseason-worthy schematic mastermind entering his second year. While they did win six games during their 2025 campaign, there is so much that the squad has to learn. The whole squad needs one key glue guy for all of them to make the leap. Justin Reid had an immediate answer about who this leader is on their team, one who could even rival the status of Drew Brees. It is none other than Cameron Jordan.

Reid names Jordan as key Saints, and Brees-like leader for 2026 NFL season

Cameron Jordan knows the ins and outs of the Saints organization more than anybody. In fact, the 2026 NFL season marks his 16th playing year within the same squad. He will now have more years spent playing for the Saints than Drew Brees.

So, it came as no surprise when Justin Reid was asked about who they are rallying behind. Their 2026 NFL run will be all about giving back to Jordan and how he helped shape careers in the Saints organization, via SiriusXM NFL Radio.

"When you think New Orleans Saints, to me, the first person that comes to mind is probably Drew Brees, and then the second person that comes to mind is Cam Jordan...  Having a Hall of Fame guy in the locker room that guys can bounce questions off of, they know what it looks like. 'Hey, if I want to play this long, it looks like Cam Jordan. Do what he does," the Saints safety declared.

Jordan has nearly done it all while playing for the Saints. He has eight Pro Bowl selections, an All-Pro honor, and was even a member of the Hall of Fame All-2010s Team. He also has an insane franchise record total of 132 sacks. The only two other accolades that he has yet to acquire are the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award and a Super Bowl.

If Reid is right that nearly all the Saints players are inspired to work like Jordan, they might be a looming threat in the NFC South.

Jordan has been unreal for the Saints. Hopefully, he still gets huge breakthroughs despite playing his final season in the NFL.
