Wizards reportedly have interest in signing former NBA MVP

The Wizards are looking to turn their franchise's direction around, as we've seen in their recent acquisitions of Trae Young and Anthony Davis.

Their luck also helped in this year's NBA draft lottery, as they won the rights to pick first overall in the draft, which they used to select AJ Dybantsa.

With a solid roster developing, there's a veteran player who won MVP about a decade ago that the team could look to add this offseason.

Wizards reportedly have interest in signing former NBA MVP

The Stein Line reported that the Wizards could be interested in a reunion with former MVP and former Wizard Russel Westbrook.

Westbrook is a UFA this offseason. He's moved around the league over the past few seasons, playing with the Kings, Nuggets, Clippers and Lakers since departing from Washington in 2021.

Westbrook has played on cheap contracts in the past three seasons, making around $3 million or less each year.

We could expect to see a similar short-term/cheap contract given to Westbrook, whether he ends up back in DC or somewhere else.

The 37-year-old is showing he's still a valuable player on the court at this stage of his career, coming off a season when he averaged 15.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.3 steals.
