The New York Yankees are going to be trade deadline buyers this season, but they're not the only team from the AL East expected to buy this summer.

The Tampa Bay Rays, in first place, are obvious buyers. After a 14-game win streak, the Boston Red Sox buying is a real possibility. Unfortunately for the Yankees, the Red Sox buying could lead to a bidding war for a highly sought-after catcher.

As Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report noted, the Yankees and Red Sox have the same "perfect" trade target in 31-homer Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman. This could potentially lead to a bidding-war, which would be some bad news for both teams.

"Boston Red Sox (61.8% postseason odds): C Hunter Goodman. New York Yankees (97.1% postseason odds): C Hunter Goodman," Miller writes. "Could be quite the bidding war here, as these loathed rivals are probably the two teams most desperately looking to upgrade their catcher situation."

The Yankees and Red Sox could both be eying an upgrade to their catcher position this summer at the trade deadline, and Goodman is the obvious top option.

The 26-year-old catcher has 31 home runs this season already, one of the best marks in Major League Baseball. He earned his second All-Star nod this season and is under club control through 2029.

There aren't many players who could provide a bigger spark to the Yankees than Goodman could. But now the Red Sox could also get involved in the trade market.

This Yankees vs. Red Sox rivalry might carry over from the field into the front office, as both clubs could be eyeing the best catcher upgrade this season in Goodman.

He'd be their "perfect" trade deadline upgrade, but both teams can't have him. They might not even be alone in their interest, as the Rays could even join the fray as well.

From the Yankees' perspective, the Red Sox's winning streak has been bad for many reasons beyond simply seeing a rival win games.

But now, this potential for the Red Sox to incite a bidding war for Goodman could drive up the price the Yankees have to pay this summer to land their top trade target.

Miller's naming of Goodman as the "perfect" trade target for the Yankees and Red Sox could lead to a major bidding war. This is bad news for the Yankees and could make acquiring a star catcher to replace Austin Wells very tricky.
