Bear is quite a good name for a catcher.
And that's the newest catcher drafted by the New York Yankees: Bear Harrison.
He was taken with the No. 160 overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft.
Harrison has played at Texas A&M, where he just hit .297 in 2026.
He also set an Aggies program record by getting hit with a pitch 23 times in a single season. Ouch.
Harrison began his college career at Saint Mary's in the West Coast Conference before transferring to play for A&M.
Maybe the most fun fact from his basic biographical information is his brother, Kyle.

Kyle Harrison is a lefty pitcher who the Boston Red Sox traded to the Milwaukee Brewers this offseason. And in Milwaukee, Kyle has thrived. He had an All-Star case, although he was snubbed from the roster and is now injured.
Bear must've gotten some quality time growing up honing his catching skills for his MLB-level brother, and now, Bear himself will try to catch up and make the majors, too.
The Yankees have had catching woes this season, but a fifth-round pick isn't a quick fix.
Instead, Bear Harrison will do his best to grow his game on each rung of the minor league ladder, and if things go well, maybe he can break into the major leagues sometime down the road.
He's got the name, and the genes, so now he's just got to prove himself every step of the way.
