49ers' Brandon Aiyuk deletes controversial videos on path toward release

Brandon Aiyuk hasn't helped his cause toward a San Francisco 49ers release lately, but it appears he's trying to fix that.

The embattled wide receiver posted multiple negative videos on social media that appeared to refer to the 49ers. He has since deleted those videos, according to Pro Football Talk.

Aiyuk may have realized, or been told by someone, that his best chance of getting a new team was to not hate on his current employer for all to see.

He's still under contract with San Francisco, which means he could be traded, but it's unlikely anyone would negotiate such a trade. That would just leave an eventual release potentially on the cards, but the 49ers don't really have to do that until the end of the preseason if they don't want to.

Aiyuk was clearly annoyed by this whole process when he posted a couple of videos.

"The truth is they scared," Aiyuk said in part of the first video. "... And they running from that belt that's on the way. It's inevitable. It's coming. Stop running."

And in the second video, Aiyuk said that the 49ers were upset that they had paid him a bunch of money for not a ton of work.

"They mad at they selves, for real," he said. "They just acting like they mad at me, but they stupid-a-- mad at they selves."

Aiyuk has frequently been linked to the Washington Commanders, but until the 49ers make a next step, it's not really clear where he might end up.

Clearly, he's not going to play any more regular season football games for the 'Niners. And now that he took a step back from his intense videos, maybe he'll have a better chance of getting a new shot sooner rather than later.
