76ers' pitch to LeBron James is hard for Cavaliers, Heat, Warriors to compete with

LeBron James left the Lakers this week after eight seasons, turning NBA free agency into a public tug-of-war for his next destination. Now 41, James is avoiding traditional pitch meetings entirely.

Instead, teams must go through his longtime agent, Rich Paul, who has been using his Game Over podcast with Max Kellerman as an unofficial recruiting stage. This setup gave Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment President Bob Myers a direct line to make his case this week.

Myers, the former Golden State Warriors GM who oversees sports properties for the 76ers' parent company, sat down with Paul and Kellerman on the show to openly pitch James on Philadelphia.

"If he was here, I'd say I honestly believe this is your best chance to win," Myers said. He anchored his sales pitch by adding, "What I would just say is if it's about winning, let's talk about this team because you can win here in Philadelphia."

Philadelphia offers the most practical path to a championship by combining a healthy Joel Embiid with newly acquired Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe. So, their path to the Finals through the East with the 41-year-old James looks much easier than surviving the West.

Cleveland’s pitch relies on hometown comfort and roster continuity. They recently signed Donovan Mitchell to a long-term max extension, and Mitchell is open to playing with James. However, they represent an emotional return rather than the clearest route to a championship.

Miami offers history with Pat Riley, but the roster fit is complicated after the team traded significant depth to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Warriors offer the chance to play with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, but their own front office reportedly has a low level of optimism about signing him, given the age of their roster.

So, Philadelphia remains the only team to state its case directly and publicly to James's agent. While other teams rely on nostalgia or star power, the Sixers have laid out the most practical blueprint for winning another title.
