Jazz Chisholm Jr. may consider wearing a cup in the future.

On Thursday night, the New York Yankees' second baseman fouled a ball that bounced and hit his groin area, sending him to the dirt in pain.

He stayed there for several minutes, speaking with the trainers. Eventually, Chisholm exited the game, the series finale against the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium.

Anthony Volpe pinch-hit for Chisholm in the bottom of the fourth inning, shifting shortstop Jose Caballero to second base.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone provided little to no information about the status of Chisholm's injury or how he was feeling after the game.

Though no update is an update. That means the Yankees are still assessing the severity of the injury.

“I’m hoping he is [OK],” Boone told reporters after the 5-1 loss, including MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

There's a chance the Yankees decide to keep Chisholm out of Friday night's lineup in their series opener against the Cincinnati Reds

Hopefully for the Yankees and Chisholm, this is a day-to-day issue and not something that will nag him for weeks.
