If you were to go back in time a few years, one of the names to watch in global football would’ve been that of Ansu Fati, who was seen as one of the bigger prospects to come out of Barcelona’s legendary La Masia, having joined the academy back in 2012.
When he put pen to paper on his first contract at Camp Nou, it was anticipated that he’d grow to be a face of the La Liga giants for years to come. It’s safe to say that all of that has but to happen in the time since.
The Spanish winger failed to receive much game time with Barcelona, with his 51 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign being the most of his career, a campaign in which he’d be involved in 14 goals. As such, the Spanish side started sending him out on loan to get more experience under his belt, with his first stint coming with Brighton in the Premier League, and his second coming with AS Monaco in Ligue 1.
Fati finds a new home
His deal with Monaco came with an optional buy clause, meaning the deal could be made permanent if the loaning club wanted it to. With the 22-year-old finding the back of the net on 12 separate occasions, it appears that Les Monegasques are bringing Fati in on a permanent move.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the move is set to be worth € 11 million and will make the 22-year-old a part of Monaco’s plans moving forward.
Given that Monaco finished in seventh place in Ligue 1, they’ll be set to fight their way through the UEFA Conference League play-off round, which is the preliminary phase for teams to make it towards the group stage.
