Broncos linked to trade idea with Falcons using beloved All-Pro WR

The Denver Broncos didn't made too many changes to their roster from 2025 so far this offseason. But the one big move they did make was trading for Jaylen Waddle.

It's a very exciting addition for Denver's offense, but it might lead to an unfortunate side effect. That being said, the Broncos now have a too-crowded WR room that might need to be adjusted. More specifically, the Broncos might need to trade one of their WRs.

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report linked the Broncos to a trade idea using beloved All-Pro WR Marvin Mims in a deal with the Atlanta Falcons. While sending Mims away would sting, such a move might actually make sense for Denver.

Broncos linked to Marvin Mims trade idea with Falcons

"Atlanta Falcons: Trade a late 2027 pick for WR Marvin Mims Jr.," Moton writes. "... Mims knows this year could be his last in Denver. Atlanta can speed up the process and acquire him to address a glaring roster need."

The Broncos don't really have a clear need for Mims on the roster from a wide receiver standpoint. He is stuck behind four other options on the offense.

Waddle and Courtland Sutton are the top two receivers, while Troy Franklins and Pat Bryant are good No. 3 and No. 4 options.

Mims would provide the Broncos with value, especially as a returner with his All-Pro skillset, as he led the NFL in punt return yards in 2025 with 452, to go with a touchdown. He's also a solid kick returner.

If the Broncos believe they have a good returner option on the roster to replace Mims, then a trade of the beloved WR/returner could make some sense.

But, realistically, because of his special teams upside, Mims is someone Denver should try to keep as a depth WR and key specialist.

Franklin, even after posting 709 yards and six touchdowns last season, and heading into year three, might be the better trade chip. His skillset more closely overlaps with Waddle and Sutton, while Bryant, heading into year two, isn't really a trade option.

Sutton isn't tradeable either, considering the Broncos are trying to win the Super Bowl this season. That also could apply to the rest of the WR room.

Even though this potential Mims trade might make sense on paper, in reality, losing such a key specialist, even if his role on offense is minimal at best, might be too much to lose with Denver going for a Super Bowl ring this season.
