Donald Trump weighs in on LeBron vs. Jordan GOAT debate: 'I only like people who like me'

While LeBron James made global headlines today after his move to the Philadelphia 76ers, President Trump made it known that he believes the new Sixer comes second to Michael Jordan in the greatest player of all time debate.

The question that has struck NBA fans for years now finally has its answer from the current president of the United States, and it's another tally for the former Chicago Bulls star.

Trump's stance comes from his personal relationship with the two athletes. According to the president, he's played golf with Jordan before and believes, "Maybe LeBron is a racist."

On Friday, just hours after the former Laker made his move cross-country to join the 76ers, Trump was asked about his thoughts on the LeBron vs. Jordan debate for the greatest player of all-time. Here's a video showing what the president said:

The president began by expressing his friendship with Jordan before moving into his thoughts about James.

"Well, Michael Jordan is a guy that's a friend of mine, I play golf with him," Trump said. "He's a really good guy."

James, on the other hand, was not as lucky in getting Trump's nod of approval.

"I think LeBron is, maybe he's a racist, but maybe he doesn't like Trump. I don't know," said Trump. "I only like people that like me. So, I would say Michael Jordan all the way."

James is not a fan of President Trump. In 2017, after the Golden State Warriors defeated James' Cleveland Cavaliers 4-1 in the NBA Finals, the Akron, Ohio, native called the president out after he suggested the Warriors visit the White House. James went as far as calling the current president a "bum."

James has also endorsed each candidate who ran against Trump in the last three elections, according to The Athletic. James first endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016 during Trump’s first presidential campaign. After Clinton fell, the then-Los Angeles Laker endorsed Joe Biden for president in 2020. Most recently, James endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential race.
