Harry Kane wants to be an NFL kicker

2 hours ago 3

Harry Kane is one of the top footballers in the world.

Playing internationally for England, including at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and in Germany for his club team Bayern Munich -- Kane pours in the goals as a top-tier striker.

Someday, though, he might consider playing American football.

Kane has spoken on multiple different occasions on wanting to be a placekicker in the NFL.

What has Harry Kane said about the NFL?

Midway through 2025, Kane remarked about being an American football kicker that it's "always something that's in the back of my mind."

A few years earlier, he said:

"I know it will be a lot of hard work. I'm not expecting to just rock up and start kicking field goals. It would be a lot of practice."

Kane is known to be friends with Tom Brady -- who was a quarterback, not a kicker, but certainly knows a thing or two about the NFL.

When Kane went on Good Morning America in 2023, he said "I definitely want to explore" being a kicker after retiring from The Beautiful Game.

"I love (the NFL), so I would love to give it a go," Kane said then.

It's not the same kicking action, but Kane likely could learn it, and he's got a talented right leg and foot.

He could also take some inspiration from Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who was a first-round MLS Draft pick out of Notre Dame but became the highest-paid kicker in football once his soccer career flamed out.

Kane is still at the top of his game, so this may not happen soon, but it'd be a fascinating journey to follow.
