Unfortunately for the Miami Heat, after making a blockbuster deal for Giannis Antetokounmpo, they no longer have a ton of elite trade assets.
That's something the Heat will have to figure out as they look to fill out the rest of their roster.
Not only do the Heat need to improve on both sides of the basketball court, but they also need to do so with limited assets. One guy who many have suggested could be traded over the past few weeks since the trade is Nikola Jovic, a youngster who seems to have a role in Miami, but not as big as some might be hoping for.
According to the latest report, however, there doesn't seem to be much of a trade market for the young forward.
“One of the challenges the Miami Heat have in the wake of completing the trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo is filling out the roster, which currently has 12 players and needs at least two more. Obviously, they’d like one of those spots to go to LeBron James, but they’re also seeking to add rotation-worthy veterans who can help them win immediately. They’d hoped that there would be a trade market for Nikola Jovic, the 2022 first-round pick who has not developed as the Heat envisioned,” Sean Deveney wrote.
It's interesting to hear that the Heat can't really get much for Jovic at the moment, as I thought they'd at least be able to get something.
Regardless, this should be a sign that Miami is at least trying to improve in the trade market, a promising sign for a team that needs to improve.
