Jayson Tatum goes viral for casual look at 2026 ESPSYs red carpet

Jayson Tatum knows how to keep fans talking.

The Boston Celtics star caused a stir once he hit the red carpet for the 2026 ESPYs. The sports awards ceremony took place at Lincoln Center in New York City on July 15.

Tatum wore a grey loose-fit tank top, grey trousers, and black dress shoes. The NBA champion also flexed his two diamond chains, bracelet, and designer watch.

Tatum didn't receive any nominations this year but he did present the Gatorade National High School Player of the Year award alongside track legend Allyson Felix. Grady Emerson (baseball) and Maddie DiMaria (soccer) were the 2025–26 top male and female high school athletes who received the honor.

Jayson Tatum on Jaylen Brown trade and next season

The next time Tatum hits the court it will be without his teammate Jaylen Brown following his trade to the 76ers last week. He broke his silence on how he felt about the move on the red carpet.

“If I’m being transparent, it’s weird,” Tatum told ESPN on Wednesday.

Tatum and Brown won an NBA championship together in 2024 and reflected on what it meant to no longer have him by his side.

“I’ve been on the Celtics for nine years and he was my teammate every single one of those,” Tatum said of Brown.

“There’s still a human element of it that you feel those emotions. The city feels those emotions,” Tatum continued.

He is also optimistic on the new season and welcoming in the new additions to the Celtics squad.

“But there’s also a side of like, ‘we have to welcome our new teammates in with open arms, and we still have to attack the new season,'” he continued. “So, there’s like a balance. But it’s weird.”

Tatum is healthy now following his torn right Achilles in May 2025 during the playoffs. He also suffered left knee stiffness that caused him to miss Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the Philadelphia 76ers. However, he has since been cleared for the summer as the Celtics prepare for the next season.
