Jets' Geno Smith gets stern warning ahead of 2026 season

The New York Jets are in a bit of a pickle after their 2025 season, which saw the team with a 3-14 record. But, that doesn't mean all hope is lost. Head coach Aaron Glenn is working hard to get this team in better shape this September than it was last. Will it work? Time will tell.

A lot of the Jets' destiny is in their new quarterback, Geno Smith. Even though Smith hasn't been with the Jets since 2016, he still has a feel for how things in New York work, which should help.

But, ahead of the new season, Smith and the Jets are getting a warning of sorts. In a feature out on Monday, John Breech of CBS Sports names the Jets one of the worst quarterback situations in the NFL right now.

The Jets' quarterback room, including Smith, Cade Klubnik, Bailey Zappe and Brady Cook, is being called one of the worst by Breech. He points out the negatives of the situation.

In the piece, he says that, "Smith went from one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the NFL to one of the toughest to watch last season. The Jets also have fourth-round pick Cade Klubnik from Clemson, Brady Cook, who went 0-4 as a starter last season with two touchdowns and seven interceptions, and Western Kentucky legend Bailey Zappe."

So, it's not just Smith in question. The other quarterbacks are also under the microscope. Either way you slice it, the pressure is on Smith and everyone else in the Jets' camp to turn things around. That's the goal for Glenn this season, as lofty as it seems. Frankly, though, Smith and Glenn are both extremely talent in what they do, so don't count the Jets out.
