As the trade deadline approaches, the New York Mets are one of the few clubs that will sell.
New York's season has gone terribly, as they had the National League's second-worst record at the All-Star break.
Injuries have played a significant role in their struggles. Shortstop Francisco Lindor was limited to 40 games during the first half of the season.
Still, the NL East club should have been at least competitive with the size of its payroll.
Which players are on the trading block? On Thursday, Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller wrote that right-hander Clay Holmes could be, but his broken leg complicates things.
"There may also be some interest in Clay Holmes, but he's rehabbing a broken leg and has a player option for next season," Miller wrote. "Even without including him, the Mets could put together a decent fire sale."
Holmes posted a 2.39 ERA in nine starts before he took a comebacker off the leg from New York Yankees outfielder Spencer Jones.
Even with the two-time All-Star healthy and in the rotation, Freddy Peralta may be the best trade chip the Mets have.
"Peralta hasn't been himself this season, but he's going to be one of the most coveted rentals on the market," Miller added.
A contending club could take a chance that Peralta's struggles are temporary and can be fixed with a change of scenery.

The impending free agent has a 4.66 ERA and 9.4% walk rate, which ranks in the 35th percentile among qualified pitchers.
Still, availability is the best ability, and Peralta made 20 starts before the break.
The Mets would be foolish not to field interest in the 30-year-old two-time All-Star.
