Nikola Jokic could still leave Nuggets, despite recent comments, per insider

Nikola Jokic has repeatedly said he plans to sign an extension with the Denver Nuggets next offseason.

However, even though he said this on Monday, many have continued to suggest it's not crazy to think Jokic could be available next offseason and not return to Denver.

“We repeat: Jokić continues to say over and over — including on Monday — that he intends to spend his whole career with the Nuggets and doesn't want to play anywhere else. He has said so consistently and the Nuggets are just as adamant, publicly and privately, that they believe him. Still ...

“No matter how many times Jokić declares that he intends to be a Nugget forever, there is bound to be a level of angst about his future in the Rocky Mountains this coming season that has never been so acute for Denver (and its fans) to weather,” The Stein Line wrote.

In some sense, I understand why this is being talked about. Jokic is arguably the best player in the NBA, and some think he's by far the best player.

However, it's also important to recognize that he seems to enjoy much of his time in Denver at the moment.

Unless that dramatically changes over the next few months, going into the season and throughout the year, I don't think this is much of a conversation to have.
