Seahawks urged to reunite with 3-time Pro Bowler ahead of Week 1

The Seattle Seahawks had a magical 2025 season. The team won the Super Bowl, knocking off the New England Patriots, in what was one of the more surprising results in recent seasons.

The goal after winning it all is always to repeat. Can the Seahawks do that in 2026? It won't be easy, but the Seahawks were able to retain most of their top players. Still. it's never a bad idea to add reinforcements, and the Seahawks could certainly use some.

Luckily, there are still some solid free agents on the market, including one who has already played for the Seahawks before.

Seahawks could reunite with Jadeveon Clowney

If there's one spot where the Seahawks could use some depth, it would be the pass rush. The only notable move the team made was adding Dante Fowler Jr., so it would be nice to get another veteran body.

Enter Jadeveon Clowney. Clowney was a teammate of Fowler in 2025 with the Dallas Cowboys, and is still a free agent despite putting up 8.5 sacks and 12 tackles. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report recently identified landing spots for the top free agents, and the Seahawks were named for Clowney.

Regarding Clowney, Knox offered the following:

This past season, for example, Clowney joined the Dallas Cowboys for 13 games and finished with 12 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and 22 quarterback pressures. He isn't just a situational edge-rusher, either, and remains a very disruptive force against the run.

Pro Football Focus graded Clowney 18th overall among 115 edge-defenders for the 2025 season.

Clowney would help just about any defense looking to bolster its front, though he might have the most impact by landing with one of the many franchises that can offer a preexisting coaching connection.

As Knox mentioned, Clowney is still good enough to help out any team, but his best fit would be a team he's familiar with. Clowney spent the 2019 season with the Seahawks, and he collected 31 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and three sacks that season.

Clowney is now 33, but he's still more than capable as a rotational edge rusher. The former top pick has three Pro Bowl selections on his resume and has at least six sacks in six of his 12 seasons.

In Seattle, Clowney could join Fowler, Demarcus Lawrence, and Uchenna Nwosu on the edge. This would be a veteran-laden group with plenty of experience and versatility. Plus, Clowney would likely welcome the chance to play for a contender once again.
