I feel safe saying that if the Golden State Warriors could move on from Jimmy Butler to land a player who they know will be healthy and can make an impact for them now and in the future, they would do just that. The only question for the Warriors is whether they actually want to trade Butler, as some have suggested.
Most of that is because the Warriors don't have many other assets to trade to help their roster.
That's why the most recent trade proposal for Butler that would bring back three players is enticing, but it doesn't feel like something the Dallas Mavericks would be interested in.

“This isn’t just about nostalgia, but a move that can help the Warriors remain relevant and contend for a playoff spot next year. Washington, one of the best 3-and-D wings in the league, could slide in nicely as the starting small forward next to Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kristaps Porziņģis, with Daniel Gafford, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, Yaxel Lendeborg and Will Richard coming off the bench. Add Al Horford and Gui Santos, and Golden State would have an even deeper bench,” Sai Mohan of Heavy wrote.
I think it's always important to remember that it takes two teams to make a trade. Just because the Warriors could want to move on from Butler doesn't mean that they'd bring back three above-average pieces in Thompson, Gafford, and Washington.
Washington and Gafford would be the two better players in this trade compared to Thompson at this stage of his career, but all three of them would fit in nicely for Golden State.
