The Chicago White Sox have a great opportunity to clinch their first postseason berth since 2021.
Manager Will Venable and general manager Chris Getz have the AL Central club way ahead of schedule in its rebuild.
Over the next three weeks, how the White Sox play on the field will determine what Getz does at the trade deadline.
More than likely, he will be looking to add to the roster.
A recent article from The Athletic's Tim Britton, Chad Jennings, and Eno Sarris indicates that the White Sox should be looking at possible external starting pitchers.
"And while Chicago’s offense sure looks solid, it needs at least one starting pitcher. Davis Martin and Sean Burke have been terrific at the front of the rotation, but they’re on pace to smash their career highs in innings, and the Sox have been searching for fits at the back end for much of the season," The Athletic's trio wrote.
"Adding another arm, preferably one capable of starting a postseason game, should be a priority."
It's not out of the question that the White Sox target a pitcher of Tarik Skubal's caliber, but his price tag will be significantly higher than others.

Starters who could make sense for the White Sox include Freddy Peralta, Michael Wacha, Seth Lugo, and Antonio Senzatela, though Senzatela has moved to a bullpen role with the Colorado Rockies.
The White Sox are in first place and thriving. It would be a shame to see them make the postseason but fall flat due to inadequate pitching.
