Why Belgium isn't playing Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Romelu Lukaku tonight vs. USA

Belgium's three most well-known attacking players are Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku and Romelu Lukaku.

None of them is starting against the United States on Monday night in the World Cup Round of 16 in Seattle.

It's a total lineup shocker, although each has an obvious reason.

Put together, though, it creates an odd imbalance to the Belgium attack.

It will leave firepower off the bench, so they'll have to stay close to the U.S. to be able to use it.

What happened to Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku and Romelu Lukaku?

These are a bit of different situations, with KDB and Doku more aligned and Lukaku a different deal.

De Bruyne and Doku have been starting all tournament.

But in the Round of 32 against Senegal, they were subbed off together at the hour mark. Belgium trailed 2-0 at the time.

They went on to a massive comeback and a 3-2 win in extra time.

Belgium has clearly determined they want to reward the players who helped them advance here.

Lukaku has been a bench option all tourney, and a dangerous one, but he doesn't have the legs to go the distance anymore, so him off the bench is less of a surprise.
