Jackson Chourio is a right-handed hitter. He became a top prospect and then a rising MLB star batting from the right side of the plate.
In his final at bat Tuesday night, the Milwaukee Brewers star batted left-handed.
It's not going to be a permanent change, but Chourio's stats will now always show that he hit lefty.
He hit the ball hard, too, but it ended up being a lineout to centerfield.
Afterward, fans couldn't decide how they felt about it.

Why did Jackson Chourio bat lefty?
It had been a long day, the end of a doubleheader, and the Cardinals had a position player on the mound with the Brewers leading 10-2.
Chourio decided to do something to lighten the mood a bit.
His swing wasn't terrible -- he's probably tinkered with this before.
The reality, though, is that he figured if the opposing pitcher was throwing lobs to the plate, him hitting left-handed wasn't the worst thing that could happen here.
Some disagreed:
Boomer take alert, but I'll own it 💯...
Jackson Chourio is not a left handed hitter. He never has been.
Yet last night he batted left handed in the 9th.
Playing MLB should never be trivial. Many guys bust their asses for years and never get the opportunity.

Many of the replies pointed out that the position player pitching pretty much negated any potential hate for Chourio.
There's also the argument to be made that even professional baseball is, at its core, a game, and Chourio was finding a way to help he and his teammates have some fun.
If anything, Chourio probably wishes his contact was just a little more pure. He didn't miss extra bases by much.
In a 162-game season, it's fair to let Chourio just enjoy himself for a moment.
