The Milwaukee Brewers are likely to be trade deadline buyers this season, and with the team in decent shape to earn a first-round bye, adding more premier talent is a bit more feasible.

When it comes to potential additions this summer by the August 3 trade deadline, the most obvious need for this team is another good starting pitcher to pair with Kyle Harrison and Jacob Misiorowski.

ESPN's Jeff Passan linked the Brewers to a pair of starting pitchers who could make a lot of sense. But, while Clay Holmes of the New York Mets might be more realistic, their "dream match" at the deadline is 2.85 ERA Minnesota Twins ace Joe Ryan.

Brewers 'dream match' at trade deadline is Twins' Joe Ryan

"Dream match: Joe Ryan, RHSP, Minnesota Twins," Passan writes. "... Ryan, though, would offer the sort of rotation stability they could use with Brandon Woodruff and Logan Henderson hurt."

Since the Brewers are dealing with injury issues involving Woodruff and Henderson, they could benefit from a more stable veteran presence in the rotation, such as Ryan.

His addition would make a lot of sense, as not only would he be one of the best pitchers who could be dealt this summer, but he is a multi-year option with his control lasting through the 2027 season.

Ryan has a 2.85 ERA this season for the Twins in 19 starts, posting 2.5 bWAR with 122 strikeouts in 104.1 innings of work this season so far.

Pairing him with Misiorowski and Harrison would give the Brewers the kind of rotation that could go toe-to-toe with any team's pitching staff around MLB.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies would be equal matches in a playoff series, and against lesser teams, the Brewers would have a big advantage with their rotation.

Ryan would be the "dream" deadline pickup for the Brewers, though with the Twins hovering around a postseason spot, it might be difficult to pry Ryan from the AL Central club this summer.
