‘It's wraps’: See the photo that has Cavaliers fans convinced LeBron James has made his decision

LeBron James has officially closed the book on his Los Angeles Lakers tenure. After eight historic seasons in the Purple and Gold, the 41-year-old forward has informed the franchise he is moving on. His agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, confirmed to ESPN that James will suit up elsewhere for the 2026–27 season.

James hits the open market as an unrestricted free agent, entering his record-tying 24th NBA season. Rich Paul has spent the opening week of free agency fielding calls from across the league to gauge landing spots for the four-time champion.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, James and his representation have narrowed his primary focus down to six specific franchises: the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, and Minnesota Timberwolves. All six contenders believe they can structure a championship-caliber roster around him.

Among all the suitors, the Cavs are pitching a homecoming with a roster already built to win now instead of a big paycheck. That angle picked up serious steam this week after a photo started making the rounds.

Hoop Central posted an image of James hanging out with his St. Vincent-St. Mary high school teammates in Akron. Featured in the group was Brandon Weems, who currently serves as an assistant general manager for the Cavaliers' front office.

Popular X account Cone captioned the post with two simple words: "So it's wraps." Many on social media are treating the photo as far more than a casual summer reunion.

Just to recap, James and Weems grew up together in Akron, played pee-wee football at six years old, and won high school state titles as teammates. In fact, agent Rich Paul recently admitted that Weems is basically LeBron's brother, calling his presence in Cleveland a "huge feather in the cap" for the Cavs' recruitment odds.

Moreover, he brought the franchise its first and only NBA title in 2016, pulling off a historic comeback from a 3-1 deficit against the 73-win Golden State Warriors. That deep history is exactly why the internet exploded when the photo dropped.

Of course, nothing is official yet. LeBron hasn’t given a timeline and his agent said that he's still looking at other teams. So, everyone is guessing that a third stint in Cleveland might actually happen.
